Karate
Programs
ATTITUDE, DISCIPLINE AND RESPECT are the three
most important components of our Junior's Program. Our job is to help
your child develop a stronger mind, body and a positive attitude through
physical fitness and we take our job very seriously! We will make sure
your child gains everything he/she needs to be a champion here, in
school and in life. Such necessities include but are not limited to:
- Respect - to build strong relationships
with parents, teachers and friends.
- Responsibility - to develop the courage
and self-esteem required to stand up for what is right, even if
he/she is standing alone.
- Reaction - reassuring child safety
through our unique program, always using common sense before
self-defense.
- Goal Setting - to learn how to turn
dreams into reality.

Krav Maga
Krav Maga is the official self defense system of the
Israeli Defense Forces and has been taught to hundreds of law
enforcement agencies and thousands of civilians in the United States. It
is a simple, effective self defense system that emphasizes instinctive
movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios.
The system is based on your body's natural instincts, not on elaborate
techniques. It is designed to be learned quickly and to be retained
under stress. Classes are a 45 minute TOTAL BODY WORKOUT and are informal (no
belts or gis).

Pilates
An exercise method based on the
work of Joseph Pilates. Its focus is on strengthening the
"powerhouse" (abs and buttocks) to execute the exercises which are
designed to increase flexibility, strengthen muscles and improve
posture. The method involves concentration and the coordination of
breath and movement, thereby helping to balance mind and body.
Pilates classes are 45 minutes long. *Yoga is included in
your Pilates membership and is a 30 minute class.
Cost:
Members = $15 per month Non-members = $45 per month (12 month
membership) or $55 per month (month-to-month membership)

Shinkendo swordsmanship emphasizes "Gorin
Goho Gogyo" (five aspects of training):
Suburi (footwork, body movement, sword
movement)
Battoho (combative sword drawing
methods)
Tanrengata (solo forms)
Tachiuchi (sparring)
Tameshigiri (test cutting)
Students typically train using a bokuto/bokken
(wooden sword), and later advance to training with an iaito
(non-sharpened sword) and finally with a shinken ("live"
sword; aka katana).
While Shinkendo requires rigorous physical training, depth of
coordination, and intense focus, one of
the most important aspects of Shinkendo is the emphasis on spiritual
forging, which inspires "Bushi
Damashii" (the
samurai/ warrior spirit). Proper practice of Shinkendo should
provide one with not only
a strong body and mind, but also a calm, clear and
focused spirit.
